This is my arrangement of the famous Real Book standard "Lady Bird." My buddy RVA guitarist Scott Burton and I used to jam on the last 4 bars in 5/4 on our gigs at the Jefferson Hotel.

I've expanded on the idea by putting the whole tune in 5/4. This also features dueling saxophones, fuzzy guitar, and an "apeshit" section at the top of the shout chorus.

Major thanks to Antonio J. Garcia and the 2014 VCU Jazz Orchestra One for helping me record this track, and providing lots of helpful feedback along the way! It was super fun to go back to VCU and see the new music department while I was there recording. I got a burger at Carytown Burgers and Fries, and I got to read about RVA superstar Reggie Pace in the Style Weekly!!!
